1. Key West
The southernmost point in the whole United States. In fact, you're actually closer to Cuba, only 90 miles, than any other location in the USA. Key West is widely known for its enthusiastic nightlife, historical sites, and top notch water sports. This unique diversity of attractions makes Key West an extremely appealing place for all ages, and interests.
We're confident that no matter what your passion is, you'll find it in Key West!
If you love nature, we highly recommend the Key West Butterfly Conservatory. Take a stroll through a tropical paradise. During your breathtaking journey, you'll see over 100 types of butterfly, colorful birds, cascading waterfalls, and an incredible collection of flowering plants. This is truly an awesome experience.
There are great trolley tours set up around the town. If you want the full experience and see all of the most notable attractions, you can very affordably do so on these tours. Keep a special lookout for Duval Street, Mallory Square, the Ernest Hemingway House, and the Harry S. Truman "Little White House."
And of course! settle down in the evening and treat yourself to a margarita at one of MANY of the famous bars on Duval Street. We recommend historic Sloppy Joes, or Margaritaville.
2. Siesta Key Beach
It's no mystery why Siesta Key Beach is Florida's #1 beach, and was voted among'st the top 5 beaches in the entire country!
Located on Florida's beautiful Gulf Coast, this iconic beach is a sought after destination for thousands of travelers year round, and for good reason... Get ready to be astonished at the powder white sand. The sand on Siesta Key Beach is so soft, it's been referred to by many as "walking on a cloud." The other amazing quality of Siesta's magic sand is that it never gets hot! As you know, the temperature in southern Florida during the summer time season can reach blistering heights. But... there's no need to panic. The sand on this beach remains a cool, comfortable temperature no matter what! It's truly amazing.
Once you spend your day at the beautiful beach, unwind at one of the great local restaurants and bars. Convenience is key! Everything on Siesta Key is within walking distance, or a very short buggy ride away. You can go from the beach to your favorite bar in minutes.
Siesta Key is truly one of Florida's gems and makes for an awesome family vacation, or a romantic couples getaway.
3. St. Augustine
Known for it's beautiful Spanish architecture, the quaint city of St. Augustine is truly a flashback in time. Laying claim to being the "nations oldest city" St. Augustine has a rich history, and incredible mystique behind it. No trip to Florida is complete without paying a visit.
Located on the Northeastern Atlantic Coast of Florida, St. Augustine has so much offer and is the perfect place to bring the kids along for some family fun, and learning.
The top historic sites that are all MUST SEE include the Castillo de San Marcos, Lightner Museum, Old St. Johns Country Jail, Fountain of Youth, and Flagler College. All of these eye-catching sites have their own unique offerings. A guided trolley tour around the city will educate you about all of these locations. From our experience, the guided tours in St. Augustine are better organized and though out than any other tour we've been on.
At night, if you're feeling a little daring, take a haunted tour on one of the ghost trains!
We can't recommend historic St. Augustine enough. If you want to experience old Florida and become one with the illustrious history of this state, then look no further!
4. Everglades City
Most of you know of, or have at least heard about the Florida Everglades. How many of you knew that there is actually a little town tucked within the Everglades!? It's called Everglades City... and it has a population of under 1000 people! But let me tell you, these are 1000 of the friendliest and welcoming people around. Newcomers are greeted with open arms and treated with great hospitality.
The landscape around this city is not quite what you'd think of when "Everglades" comes to mind. It's actually comprised of salt water marshes, mangroves, and boasts a wide array of wildlife.
Of all the activities to do there, the most fun we had was on the air boat tour, and kayaking through the hidden channels. Playful Dolphins are likely to show up, as well as many unique and beautiful birds! The boat captains are incredibly knowledgeable and know the area like the back of their hand.
When you're all done, finish the day with a freshly caught seafood lunch, or dinner at the Camellia Street Grill. A local staple.
5. Lake Okeechobee
